How far do you travel for weddings? We will travel as far as you need us to go! |
Are there any additional charges for travel? Travel charges are assessed on a case by case basis with respect to distance and time. Travel charges are not a profit center but are necessary to ensure we are in the location with adequate time to effectively cover your event. |
Do you offer a CD with any of your collections? Yes, all wedding collections come with a fully processed, high resolution CD and include a print release as well. |
I see that all of your wedding collections include an album, how are the images chosen for it? Images can be chosen in 1 of 2 ways. Usually I put together a draft of the album and present them for your review and make changes with pictures you would like to either add or remove from selection. The other option is for you to make the selections yourself and put them in the favorites folder associated with your album. |
How can my family/friends order images from my wedding online? After your album is uploaded into an online gallery you will receive a password that you can email to all of your guests. They can also visit your gallery and sign in providing their email address and will receive a discount voucher code to use for any purchases made through MatthewThwngPhotography.com |
How much time is typically needed to shoot a wedding? That depends on your day! The timeframe of each wedding is established when we meet to discuss your day. The collections offered include time options, however, if more time is needed than what is included in the your collection of choice, it can be increased for $200/per each additional hour. |

Can you photograph my rehearsal dinner? I am available for the rehearsal dinner at a rate of $275 for up to 3 hours. All images will be included with the images from your wedding day. |
How many photographers come with you on the wedding day? A second/assistant photographer is included in each wedding collection. |
Do you have backup equipment? On your wedding day my second photographer and I will have a minimum of 4 cameras, several lens', and a multitude of speedlite equipment on hand. Your digital images will also be kept in as many as 3 storage backups following processing. |
What do you wear to your weddings? We wear something discrete as a means to keep the attention on you! Typically a black dress shirt and black dress pants. If other attire is desired please specify prior to your wedding day. |
Will my images be posted on social networking sites (Facebook, Pinterest etc)? Unless specified in your wedding contract your images will be posted on both the Matthew Thwing Photography Facebook and Pinterest pages. I can also tag you in them so that you can display them on your pages as well to your family and friends. |

Is an engagement session included in any of your packages? Wedding Collection I includes an engagement session and several other items. They can be added to any other collection for $475. |
What forms of payment do you accept? Currently, Matthew Thwing Photography accepts payment via cash, check or through PayPal by the means of your choice. |
How do I book your service and guarantee my wedding date? Once a 1/3 retainer payment has been made your date is reserved and will immediately be marked as unavailable to any other clients on my calendar. Please note, I cannot reserve your date until the retainer payment has been made. Retainer payments are nonrefundable. |
When is the remaining amount due for the wedding? The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to your wedding date. |
Do you offer a “pay in full” discount? Yes, a 5% discount will be applied to all Collections if payment is made in full upon initial booking. |

Will you be photographing any other events on my wedding day? No, on your wedding day you are my priority! |
Does it cost extra for black & whites and adding a vintage look to my photos? Typically I do not charge anything additional for converting a few images from color to black and white or sepia. However, if you would an extensive amount of images converted an additional processing surcharge can be added. |
What will you do if something happens to my wedding photos? Matthew Thwing Photography does everything possible to ensure your images are not lost however there are times when the unthinkable happens. If such an event takes place I will do everything possible to resolve the scenario with you including reshoots of bride and groom and family photographs with the understanding that some images and moments are not re-creatable. |
Do you offer a military discount? Yes, a 10% discount is available for all military personnel but are limited to only either the bride or groom. |
Do you offer payment plan options? After the initial 1/3 retainer has been made payments are up to you as long as the remaining balance has been paid 30 days prior to your wedding day. |

If we would like to have several locations for the bride/groom & bridal party photos, do you charge for each additional location on the wedding day? No, however if extensive travel is necessary there may be travel charges assessed. |
Do I have to use the wedding time coverage consecutively? Yes, you can also schedule a post wedding bride and groom session similar to an engagement session for $475. |
How far in advance do I need to book? Provided your date is available you can book whenever you want! As mentioned previously I cannot reserve your date on the calendar until a 1/3 retainer has been received though. |
Can we meet before I book? Geographical challenges excluded, I prefer to meet with each couple prior to booking in order to discuss your day in detail and listen to your needs. Most of the time these meetings are informal and take place at a mutually convenient coffee shop. |
How would you describe your wedding shooting style? I was trained in photographing weddings in the late 90's and have a solid base of classic, portrait oriented photography. However, I am just as passionate about landscape photography and will incorporate the aesthetics of your venue and decor in your photo collection. During the ceremony and reception a photojournalistic style will be used to document the true to life and emotional events as they unfold. Each day is unique and incredible in its own way! |

What happens if my wedding gets canceled, or I need to change the date after I’ve booked? It is understood that these things can happen. Matthew Thwing Photography will do everything possible to accommodate date changes provided the new date is available. Please contact us as soon as possible regarding such a change. Pleas also contact us immediately in the event your wedding has been cancelled. The retainer fee is nonrefundable. |
Do you offer anniversary sessions? Yes, the engagement session mirrors the offering for an anniversary session. Please see the wedding and engagement price list for details.

Do you typically shoot for the whole wedding day? The time allocated for photographing each wedding is determined by which collection you choose. You can add additional hours to your Wedding Collection at a rate of $200/per additional hour. |
Do you work with any specific vendors? Matthew Thwing Photography is a member of the VAWE Network (Virginia Wedding and Event Network) and can help you get in touch with many vendors in various fields in the area. Please submit a request through the "contact" tab at the top of the home page regarding theses types of requests. |

How long before I receive my photos after my wedding? The normal turn around time for post processing is 6-8 weeks. I will normally put anywhere from 25-50 preview photos on Facebook.com/MatthewThwingPhotography.com within a week of your wedding. |
How many photos should I expect from my wedding day? Normally an 8 hour wedding will produce approximately 400-600 digital images. |
What happens if you get sick on my wedding day? I will do the same thing you would, show up anyway! In the extremely rare and unlikely event that I am too sick or injured to photograph your wedding I will work through my professional network to provide you with another photographer. However, I will do absolutely everything in my power to make sure I am there for you! |
